Not Ladies Hostel dear friends… Little Home…;_)
A cozy (not space wise uh, its spacious), multi cuisine restaurant situated at the heart of Koramangala.
Run by mallus… Neat, tasty food. Its not the typical mallu restaurant where Kerala-ism is sprinkled all over the place (including the name). That is one thing I don’t like abt other Kerala restaurants. Your business shouldn’t be based on ur cast, culture, creed, state of origin or any such stuff… If you do a decent business then people of all sets will come to u automatically. LH offers decent north Indian food, and ditto with our very own exotic delicacies like Karimeen Fry, Mussels, Paalappam, varieties of Chicken… Continental stuff is also decent. As far as I am concerned, I eat all that is served as long as it is non-veggy. :_) So this is kind of an ideal place for me, with lots of options on non-veg.
Crew is very friendly. We are kind of friends with the stewards. Especially with owner’s son Jerry and the Captain Siby. People who take the freedom to force you to go for the day’s special item, Chicken Lappetta (?) instead of the mutton dish u ordered. Good food, good ambience… You can climb on to the top floor which is at 6
th or 7
th floor (havnt bothered to count yet) and then relax over
ur dinner, enjoying a bird’s eye view of the busy night activities happening down the street. Still remember Jins’ question when we first took him there all the way up to the top floor. “Aakaashatheekkaanoodaaaaa?” Our daily destination for dinner, somewhere close to the skies :_D
Earlier it used to act as kind of a meeting place, when Rat used to join us from Wipro, Kiron and Sand were there too. Now Rat got his base shifted to Malleshwaram and Sand has flown over to Miami… A nice place to spend one hour and have your meal also. Like Raj Kiran says, “They also serve food”.
Tailend: Rat and I were having dinner at LH yesterday when Sowji called “Bharathchandran IPS at Hongasandra tent at 10:30”. Rat was also ready…called up Kiron. He too agreed. Finished our dinner… to autobahn to park our bikes. We needed a four wheeler with off-roading capabilities to venture out thru Begur road. Reached in time for the show. Just another Suresh Gopi star-er. Had just one doubt when the movie got over at 1 in the night “Why do people continue to churn out such junk?”. (I cant blame u if u ask the same thing abt my blog ;_)))

Well thanks for the tip on LH...the restaurant. I think if a restaurant is mallu and its speciality is mallu food then there is nothing wrong in overtly mallu decor. People like to come to a speciality restaurant for the very same reason that it specialises in a particular cuisine. Besides I like the little mallu artefacts these restaurants sport so proudly. Nice review!
p.s.“Why do people continue to churn out such junk?”
Well awaiting for more such junk lol
Don’t know whether they themselves want to call it a mallu restaurant. They just serve mallu food along with other stuff... havnt seen them advertising on the 'mallu'ness...
And, now I know the reason why the mallu restaurants of Blore sport those "little mallu artifacts"... LOL
after all, the taste of mallu food is different. in may when i was there, i went to a restaurant near forum. man it was so crowded. btw i saw enigma en-route ;-)
It has to be Kairali... That is also a good option for mallu food.
Btw, Enigma tho apna place... ;_) pride of Kmngala ;_)) interiors look more like a restaurant, than like a 'u-know-what'... i think its too spacious... u miss that cramped intimate feeling ;_)
U've just written abt my own fave joint. Staying in Koramangala myself; this is one place which guarantees yum food.
My cousin who ws stayin with me always used 2 drag me over there even when i preferred to just cross the road to the neighborhood Mallu Mess (known as Paulettan's mess around here) in Jakkasandra. My cousin in Indianopolis now and on the way 2 the airport goin on the year long project he had just one demand....to stop over at LH for Dinner.
Whn my folks had come ovr from Cochin; i ddnt hav 2nd thots about where to take them for lunch. All just loved the fare and understood why i ddnt miss home food too much ;-))
Cheers

TIP: try Karimeen pollichathu ; absolutely heavenly! Never tried the Northie/chinese fare which is also available ther.
Was not aware that LH has been offering bread and butter for quite a few bloggers... :_)
Have tried ‘karimeen pollicahthu’ once or twice, being impressed by the way it looks on others plate, even though I am not an ardent fan of sea food...
Shall try to meet u there sometime... dont hesitate to offer a 'hi' to the one who parks his golden Yamaha Royal Enticer (, with some foolish looking inscriptions on the back side of the bike).
A Golden Enticer with wierd inscriptions cant be easily missed! Had actually looked around in the last couple of days; ddnt find any..Alternativley u can look for a "flaash"y Red Santro or old ramshackle KB 125 which the owner is trying desparately to start..
cheers

ha ha ha
... ok dude...
add a golden Bolero to the list ;_)...
(parayunnathu kettaal swontham vandi poole thoonnum...alla... roomie-de aanu :_D)
btw if both of u see an airplane with a blue tail having yellow stripes in it, appearing on top of LH, do have a look for a waving hand.. its me on my way to trivandrum in a Jet Airways flight.. :-)
(ottum kurakkandannu vechu;-))
spaari aliyaaa, spaari...
;_)))
I've been in Bangalore from Feb 2004 and I love LH. I came here via Google search, looking for their phone# :-) By the way, their Chinese food is also pretty good. I am still mad at them because they stopped breakfast -- atleast on weekends they could've continued that.
