security module incorporated.
what works in win2k doesnt work in win2k3 :-(
ldap bind and directory search are too big issues for Microsoft to handly comprehensively...
but the only silver line is that the work-around is only a google hit away.

Deployment again…

Its time for Dashboard deployment…

Pentium 4 processor 2.8 GHz systems,
2 GB Ram…

2 boxes of the above config…
Boy, do I love this deployment !

6/29/05 :Afternoon ->
Boxes up.
IIS configured…
Application copied from dev machine…
Deployment up and running(, but for the data access part)…
Mail shot to GPM “Application Up and running… SQL Server to be installed…”
Got a bravo from GPM…
went ahead and installed SQL Server 2000… then sp3.
tried the application again…
Some bloody dll error… which shouldn’t come logically.
At the same time, Morpheus shouts with that wicked smile… “Kido, u got virus… not just ur machine… but the 2 boxes which u set up just now…”

Wow… that’s fantastic… some googling… some config changes… added web server extensions to IIS. Nothing works… wasted almost a day on that… then at 9 in the night yesterday, the proverbial bulb lights! “ReINSTALL….

Yea… got win2k3 cd from Morpheus… win2k3 installation… 35 minutes… IIS configuration… application deployment… its working again J
Was in the mood of calling it a day… Another mail to GPM… application up again…
Now back to installing Sql Server…

DashBoard

After knot, couple of weeks on bench…. A sudden break to a lot of activities…
Hibernation period…
Then now into a DU project… A portal for EMEA. Only advantage is getting to interact with the SPM. He will be the owner of the application. Started leading a team of 3. Now down to 2. Dot.Net application to show reports on all the EMEA activities.

Nothing much is happening in life… As a class mate told today, “When we were in schools, at least after an year, we were moved to a different class…Here not even that…”

long time no C

Knot is over…. Finally… in fact it was over a couple of weeks back. Now on bench… waiting for the next project… and preparing a POC for another project. Today they are presenting the (to be rejected) POC, to the client. Client is hell bend on J2EE and here we are… going with a .Net solution… most of the time, the way business functions is way too funny for a sane person to invest more than a couple of minutes thought on it…

That’s abt the project front… life sucks big time… it has fallen into a routine as before… may be its time for another change… don’t know… standing in the middle of no where… don’t know which way to go.

Deployment Descriptor

Project reached the final stage of deployment.
But its getting extended endlessly. This wait to drive the last nail is really irritating.
Need a change… a new team.. team mates.

One good thing abt putting in long hours during dev phase is being part of the deployment team. Should say it’s a good work. Get to play with state of the art servers.
